Detailed Description
This listing features a beautiful standalone copy of Volume 3 of The Works of Charles Dickens, issued in the late 19th century as part of P.F. Collier’s famous "Unabridged Edition" library. During this era, Collier bound several massive classics together into dense, heavy volumes to make an entire author's lifework accessible to Victorian family households.

This specific volume is a remarkable powerhouse of literary content, containing four of Dickens' absolute finest works completely unabridged in a single book:

A Tale of Two Cities (His legendary, dramatic masterpiece of the French Revolution)

Dombey and Son (A poignant exploration of arrogance, family, and shipping empires)

Nicholas Nickleby (A sweeping, humorous, and critical tale of Victorian schools and society)

Christmas Books (A wonderful collection of his seasonal novellas, including A Christmas Carol)

The book includes striking, full-page period illustrations. Because this copy boasts a tight text block without the loose or detaching pages commonly found in this fragile 1880s series, it serves as a highly reliable reading text, an impressive historical reference, or the missing anchor volume needed to fill an incomplete Collier set.

Condition Report
Overall Condition: Very Good vintage condition.

Binding & Structure: The binding is square, straight, and remarkably sound. Unlike many of these heavy, oversized volumes whose inner hinges split easily under their own weight, this copy remains tight and structurally secure.

Exterior: The cloth boards show grand Victorian shelf character. Expect mild shelf rubbing to the corners and light softening to the spine tips, but the dark cloth and ornate spine gilt remain distinct and handsome.

Interior: Pages are complete, flat, and securely attached to the text block. Shows standard, uniform age-toning and faint background foxing completely typical of 1880s paper stock, but remains entirely clean and very readable.
